I won't deny it, I LOVE Disneyworld and Disneyland. They truly are the happiest place(s) on earth! This nerdy obsession with Disney is best understood by those who have felt the pure joy associated with walking down Main Street and gazing up at Cinderella's Castle. I try to explain to people (cough. my boyfriend) the wonder and magic of the place, but having never been there, he just can't fathom it. And I bet you can guess what I love most about Disneyworld and Disneyland. The details (duhh)! And man, does Disney have details covered. From the scrumptious food to the meticulously landscaped grounds, the never-a-single-burnt-out-bulb lights and the authenticity and courtesy of all cast members, I could seriously go on and on about all the wonderful details Disney has to offer. Ever had the pineapple whip in the Magic Kingdom? If you have, you'll understand the obsession. If you haven't, get some now!!! Did you know that if you yell "Andy's coming!", any Toy Story characters immediately fall limp to the ground. It's things like this that make every person's experience so special. And it's really not just for kids. Yea, you can skip and frolic your way through (umm, maybe I do, I'm not ashamed....) but there are also bars and clubs in Downtown Disney, adult wine nights in Epcot, and plenty of over-kid's-heads adult humor mixed throughout. If you haven't been, I urge you to consider it. Join the club. Your annoying friends who can't stop talking about how great it is will welcome you with open arms, and you will now know and understand what they're raving about!
Rant over. :)
In case you were wondering, this all arises from me having recently completed a custom commission set of kissing Mickey and Minnie wine glasses and complimentary Disney-inspired 'thank you' cards for a pair of Disney-fan lovebirds (you can see them at the end of this post!). I will admit, for the longest time my dream proposal involved "him" (whoever he was), on one knee, twinkling ring in hand, in front of an illuminated Cinderella's Castle. I have since let a "proposal dream" drift away and am focusing on enjoying my life and current relationship. If it does ever happen, I want to embrace it for wherever it is. It is fun to dream, though...
Enjoy some actual Disney proposals below:
These proposals would make any Disney Princess' heart go aflutter.
It turns out there is an awesome website devoted to weddings at Disney, called Magical Day Weddings. Feel free to stop by and peruse the weddings, there are some real gems in there!
I also stumbled upon a handy article on The Knot if you do want to incorporate your love of Disney into your big day in a classy, not cutesy way. Enjoy!
For the record, I received nothing from this shameless Disney promotion. (Dear Disney, if you want to send something my way, I wouldn't complain!) ;)
Do you know someone who proposed or got married at Disney? Disney honeymoon, anyone?? Let me know in the comments!
