Ever since I bought that sweet little blown glass pumpkin last month (seen here) I've seen glass pumpkins everywhere! I don't know how these little gems flew under my radar for so long, but I am smitten! The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois recently hosted a Glass Pumpkin Patch with some extremely talented glass blowers. I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon wandering amongst the glorious glass sculptures and checking out their fascinating glass-blowing demos. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find personal pages for all of the artists featured by the Arboretum, but here is a link to their names and bios. It seems that for many of the artists the pumpkins were a limited edition item and are not available in their galleries or shops (at least not that I could find...if you find any please let me know!). Because I'm a wee bit obsessed with glass pumpkins now, I took it upon myself to hunt down some more of the beauties on the one and only Etsy. I figured I was a glass pumpkin "traditionalist" and was only really drawn to the orange ones, but now that I've seen crackled glass, matte black, iridescent and other fantastic color, texture, and stem variations I'm proud to say I'm an equal opportunity glass pumpkin lover! With Halloween and Thanksgiving coming up, now is the perfect time to get your own little glass gourd. If you're like me, you'll be tempted to expand into your very own glass pumpkin patch!
(I have so much respect for the art of glass blowing. Here is another cool glass-blowing demo by Ignite).
I'd like one of each, please! They are all so uniquely perfect!
