Happy Things

This "mission of happiness" needs a better name.  I'm brainstorming but so far nothing suits it quite right.  It's not like nothing makes me happy or that I'm wallowing in sadness.... it's a situational thing.  It needs to encompass that it's a journey but that it's about being happy with where I am...embracing the city and finding good stuff so I don't get too caught up in what makes me feel bad.  Hmmm....

This week I have been suuuper busy getting card and glass designs made, edited, and in the shop.  Pretty much my only time away has been over the weekend when I attended an art fair.  I really dig that there is essentially at least one type of fair each weekend.  Art, book, and crafty fairs are probably my favorite, for obvious reasons.  I love wandering through booths and checking out all the handmade goodness.  There were some really spectacular artists at the one I went to last weekend.  (I'm planning a separate post about them to post soon!)  I would blow all my cash if I didn't set limits for myself, so I usually only allow myself to purchase one thing that is my ultimate favorite.  If there are other things I love I'll take a card and possibly order from that seller later.  This time around I bought a gorgeous little blown glass pumpkin from a dude out of Louisville, KY.  The colors are just stunning!  It was super hard to choose because the sculptures all had such organic uniqueness to them.  Some where iridescent, some had fantastic twisting stems, some were shaped just right... I am quite pleased with the one I brought home, however.  I've styled it on my coffee table with some fall-scented candles in glass containers to keep the feeling cohesive.  :)

This week's other Happy Thing was a coffee break I took at Metropolis Coffee Co. with my mom and her man.  What a neat joint!  From being greeted with chalk art on the walls to the mexican hot chocolate which I would BATHE in if I could, I would definitely make Metropolis my go-to café if it weren't so far north of where I live in the city.  I guess I'll have to make some excuses to head back up there!
